What does the job look like?

As the Management Accountant, reporting to the National Finance Manager, you will provide support in managing the financial and administrative aspects of Government and Defence contracts. You will also be responsible for the production of weekly and monthly financial information including variance analysis, assisting with annual budgets as well as providing support to the department for a variety of projects and tasks. Key areas:

  • Prepare weekly and monthly management accounts, including commentary, variance analysis and additional information as required.
  • Prepare and track wages information, including commentary and issue identification against targets.
  • Prepare general ledger reconciliations, client invoicing and payment processing, including investigation and resolution of issues as identified.
  • Provide operational and commercial guidance, supported by data analysis, in relation to issues, risk mitigation and opportunities.
  • Lead continuous improvement of processes to drive financial and management for the business unit, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Coordinate the annual stocktake process for the business unit.
  • Support in Contract amendments, forecasting & budgeting, audit and other financial governance requirements.

Are you the one?

You have a positive outcome focused attitude with the ability to communicate high quality succinct financial information to a diverse range of stakeholders including those with non-finance backgrounds. You can demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within a medium to large corporate environment and / or relevant consulting background.
  • Strong understanding of financial and management accounting as well as budgeting and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in preparing high quality financial reports including management presentations and reporting packages.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to succinctly interpret and manipulate large volumes of data from different sources.
  • Working knowledge of finance information systems and enterprise accounting software (SAP preferred).
  • Qualified CA/CPA or near completion.
