What does the job look like?

The Workplace Relations Advisor will drive our IR/WR strategy across our blue-collar workforce and provide specialist advice to a diverse range of stakeholders to support operational efficiencies and improvements. This is a permanent role within our dedicated Workplace Relations team and is based at our Willawong, Qld head office.

Key areas:

  • Provide specialist workplace relations and policy advice to site managers and the leadership group.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on diverse employee relations issues.
  • Investigate and gather information on cases relating to workplace grievances, disputes, breaches, misconduct and other related issues.
  • Support the process of enterprise bargaining.
  • Support the preparation of submissions and advocacy before the Fair Work Commission and other relevant tribunals or courts.
  • Foster effective consultative working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner with management and regularly contribute to formal and informal dispute resolution matters.

Are you the one?

You are a passionate Workplace Relations or Industrial Relations professional with proven working experience in complex and diverse blue-collar environments, such as industrial, mining, manufacturing and transport/logistics sectors. You are an effective communicator with an investigative mindset and an ability to consult with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders on diverse dispute cases. Furthermore, you can demonstrate the following:

  • Tertiary qualification or similar in Workplace/Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Business, Law.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within Workplace/Industrial Relations supporting Blue Collar environments (i.e., Manufacturing, Industrial, Mining, Transport & Logistics).
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations in accordance with legislation and policies.
  • Advanced understanding and interpretation of the provisions of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth).
  • Experience navigating issues/negotiations relating to Enterprise Agreements.
  • Ability to develop and collate information/materials for court hearings and tribunals (Desirable)
  • Proven ability to provide credible and advice to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience managing relationships with union officials and delegates.
  • Ability to achieve work objectives under tight timelines and to a high level of accuracy.
