What does the job look like?

Linfox's Intermodal business unit have an opportunity for a Rail Operations Supervisor to join our team in Cairns, QLD. In your new role,
you will lead operational teams and coordinate day-to-day rail movements to ensure freight accuracy and service delivery expectations are met to to achieve a safe, efficient and customer-focused service. 
 
This is a full time permanent opportunity, working Monday - Friday commencing at 8:00am.
 
Key areas: 
  • Lead day-to-day site operations to ensure safe, efficient and customer-focused outcomes
  • Oversee pickups and deliveries to meet customer expectations and delivery windows
  • Coordinate train movements, shunt plans and container yard operations
  • Lead and support rail yard operators including drivers, forklift and gantry operators across the operation
  • Coordinate with suppliers and service providers on equipment, maintenance and repairs
  • Capture, record and reconcile freight movements, discrepancies and manifests within operational systems

Are you the one?

You are an experienced leader with a background in transport/logistics or rail operations, comfortable leading diverse operational teams in a fast-paced environment. You bring a strong safety mindset, customer focus and a structured approach to operational execution. You can demonstrate:
  • Prior experience in an operational role within the transport/logistics industry
  • Knowledge of rail and road transport operations, including compliance and safety requirements
  • Rail SARC certification would be highly regarded 
  • Proven capability supervising operational teams, including rail yard operators and driver groups
  • Advanced knowledge of systems for container and rail movement tracking including manifests, billing and data capturing 
  • A process improvement mindset with strong attention to detail in freight and manifest accuracy
